Work Background

Pip Farquharson is a professional freelance writer/editor/copywriter with 17 years of communications experience across a variety of media.

She has contributed extensively to various travel publications including those by Time Out and Dorling & Kindersley, and written travel features for Newsweek's Frommer Budget Travel magazine, Carlson Wagonlit Travel's Postcards magazine, China Airways' Dynasty magazine, the Globe & Mail and South China Morning Post.

She regularly writes about design gadgets/products, hotels and other cool spots around the world for Holland Herald, the inflight magazine of KLM airlines and Boutique 1, the fashion and lifestyle magazine of Villa Moda (Dubai). She has worked as a consultant on travel programmes on Amsterdam for the BBC, MTV, Channel 4 and Lonely Planet.

She also wrote the script for Dorling Kindersley's Travel Podcast: Amsterdam, a downloadable MP3 audio guide honing in on the historic city center and Red Light District.

Pip is the author of Rotterdam (Thomas Cook Publishing) published May 2008 (1st edition) and May 2010 (2nd edition), and Amsterdam Index: Creative City Guide, published in 2006 (1st edition) and 2007 (2nd edition) by BIS Publishers.
